Amadablam Base Camp Trek: 15 Nights/16 Days

Day 01 : Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to Gokarna Resort

Upon your arrival after customs and immigration formalities our officer will welcome you at the airport exit with a garland of flowers and by a short drive will take you to your hotel. Upon arrival in hotel you will be offered a welcome drink and our officer will help you in checking in and brief you about your program. Gokarna Forest Resort is located inside the serene temperate Gokarna Forest, the former private Royal hunting grounds of the Kings of Nepal. A winding road climbs leads through the forest up to the main complex, comprising a mix of subtly majestic Malla period architecture, Rana period lodges, and sanctuaries harmoniously blending with nature. Further on exotic Forest View cottage rooms are set beside a century old restored Hunter’s lodge. A quiet peaceful haven set between ancient towering trees with glimpses of the second fairway in the valley below make the perfect getaway for a few days of golf, relaxation and rejuvenation at the Spa, enchanting forest walks, and time close to nature. Day 02 : Kathmandu valley sightseeing.

First visit of the extremely rich valley with the medieval city of Bhaktapur -12km east of Kathmandu, the holiest Hindu temple of Pashupatinath alongside the Bagmati river, sacred place for cremations. Then drive to Boudhanath for a taste of Buddhism, circumambulating the huge stupa of Bodhnath along with the fervent devotees. O/N

Day 03 : Flight Kathmandu – Lukla (2800m),Trek to Phakding (2600m). 3hrs

After a 40mn morning Twin Otter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gate of Khumbu. We meet our local staff at the airport and walk till the end of the village. The trail goes down steeply to cross a river with Kusum Kangaru at the back. The path climbs a bit,then contours around a ridge to Ghat on the bank of the Dudh Kosi. Then it makes some ups and downs before reaching Phakding. Overnight in Yeti Mountain Home.

Day 04 : Phakding – Namche Bazar (3440m). 6hrs

The trail continues north of the Dudh Kosi valley, climbing through fields to Benkar with its huge mani stone in the centre of the trail. Then the trail climbs up through magnificent forests of rhododendron, magnolia and giant firs. Soon after Taktok, Thamserku Peak is on sight and the trail enters the Sagarmatha National Park at Jorsale. After crossing on a suspension bridge high over the Dudh kosi and Bhote Kosi confluence the trail makes a long climb till a ridge where there are first views of Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse. The trail climbs steadily through forest to Namche, a town lying in a natural amphitheater protected from the weather and blessed with a major natural spring. Overnight in Yeti Mountain Home Namche.

Day 05 : Around Namche for acclimatization. 5 to 6hrs

Because of the gain of elevation we need to stop one day there to walk around in order to well acclimatize. After breakfast we can climb up to Shyangboche and make a visit of Everest View Hotel which offers superb views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Kanggaru and Kongde Ri. After that superb panorama we continue to Khumjung, a typical Sherpa village at the bottom of the towering Khumbila and back to Namche for a visit of the town. Overnight in Yeti Mountain Home.

Day 06 : Namche Bazaar – Thame (3800m). 4hrs

Leaving Namche, the trail goes through pine and rhododendron forests and crosses small villages such as Gangla, Phurte and Samshing, quite over the Bhote kosi valley and offers nice views of Kongde Ri. Reaching Thamo, there is a police check post and after the trail climbs steeply for a short while before becoming more gradual till Samde. The path is much less frequented now and we descend to a bridge before our last ascent to reach Thame, a typical Sherpa village, known for its famous climbers such as Ang Rita and Appa Sherpa.
There is a nice monastery to visit there. Overnight in Yeti Mountain Home.

Day 06 : Thame – Namche Bazaar – (3400m) 4hrs 

We retrace our steps back to Namche. Overnight in Yeti Mountain Home.

Day 07 : Namche Bazar – Tashinga (3450m). 3hrs

The direct route climbs up to Chorkung and offers the first views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kangtega and Thamserku. The trail continues up to Sanasa at 3550m before descending to Tashinga. Overnight in Everest summit lodge.

Day 08 : Tashinga – Pengboche (3930m) 2hrs 30min.

From Tashinga the trail descends steeply to Phunki Tenga, a small settlement with several water driven prayer wheels on the banks of the Dudh kosi at 3250m. From there the trail climbs steeply at first, then makes a gradual ascent through forests and around mani stones as it follows the side of a hill up to the saddle on which Thengpoche monastery sits at 3870m, in a clearing surrounded by dwarf firs and rhododendrons. The view from this spot is rightly deemed to be one of the most magnificent in the world. Kwongde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kangtega and Thamserku provide an inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants. Then it’s a short, steep descent to Devuche through a forest of birches, conifers and rhododendrons. From Devuche the trail crosses the Imja Khola on a steel bridge, swaying a terrifying distance above the river at a spot where the river rushes through a narrow cleft. The route climbs to Pangboche at 3930m. Overnight in Everest Summit Lodge.

Day 09 : Excursion to Dingboche – Back to Pangboche. 7hrs

In order to acclimatize before the next day trip to the base camp, the most courageous ones can trek up to dingboche and return to Pangboche. From Pangboche the route enters alpine meadows above the tree line. Most of the vegetation is scrub juniper, tundra and wild flowers. The trail passes by Shomare and several yak herders’ goths as it ascends on a shelf above the river to Orsho. Beyond that point the trail divides. The lower, more important looking trail, leads to Dingboche. From here great views of Island Peak, Makalu, Lhotse…Then we retrace our steps back to Pangboche, Overnight in Everest Summit Lodge.

Day 10 : Excursion to Ama Dablam Base camp – Pangboche. 6Hrs

The trial crosses the Imja Khola and climbs upstream the Cholungche Khola till a kharka before passing near a small lake. Base camp is an idyllic, grassy spot from which the majority of the climbing route up the mountain is visible.
Back to Pangboche in the comfort of Everest Summit Lodge.

Day 11 : Pangboche – Namche Bazar. 5hrs 30min

We retrace our steps back through Devuche and its nunnery and Thengboche before descending to Phunki Tenga. After crossing the river the trail climbs up to Sanasa and descends to Namche. Overnight in Yeti Mountain Home.

Day 12: Namche Bazar – Phakding 4hrs

Trek to Phakdin from Namche Bazar; Overnight in Yeti Mountain Home.

Day 13: Phakding – Lukla 3hrs

Trek to Lukla from Phakding; Overnight in Yeti Mountain Home.

Day 14: Flight Lukla – Kathmandu

The flight takes 40min and is a jarring return to the noise, confusion and rush of a large city. Transfer to hotel.

Day 15: Kathmandu 

Being your last full day in Kathmandu, this day is dedicated for relaxing and fully shopping.

Day 16: Kathmandu to onward destination

Drive to Ariport for your home Departure; Farewell!!
